I doubt it's peer to peer but am not positive. Also dedicated servers don't mean good servers. Ubisoft is pinching pennies with Far Cry's servers and always has. The PvP is only 6v6. They're using the bare minimum they can to host the game. That means gameplay has to be sacrificed. Far Cry 2 did it best. It had both Peer to Peer and Dedicated

Yes you can play through it with your friend, but only the host's progress is actually saved. I'd recommend Ghost Recon: Wildlands before any Far Cry game for co-op. How I fixed my black screen on start up. Go to C:\Users\YOURPC\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 2 and edit the GamerProfile.xml (use notepad) Look for Maximized="1" and change it to Maximized="0". Also change Fullscreen="1" to Fullscreen="0". Start up game and hopefully it will be windowed. Go in to settings and change Direct X version from 9 to 10.
