So Truckers MP is just a mod for ETS2 and ATS. And so that means that Truckers MP and ETS2/ATS shares the same profile and saves. So if you drive in single player and then start Truckers MP you will just be driving on the same save game. Truckers MP dosent save your progress in a different save location.
Also try to create a new profile (in single player) with NO mods and start to drive your first delivery. Save your game, and load up TruckersMP. Continue to drive using the profile you just created. Make sure you route through the Chunnel though if you want the maximum driving time. Depending on what you mean by 'career mode' your best is probably just to make a save of your existing game progress
